Artemis Fowl, the smartest boy of all times, was outsmarted by another. His name is Bob, the most dangerous businessman to handle with. Because of his foolishness, cube was robbed and his manservant, Butler was severly injured. Now he has to work with the fairies he once fought with. In the previous book, he stole fairy gold by keeping a hostage.
Artemis Fowl is a mastermind. This part of the book is part of the exciting force of the book, which also adds suspense to the book the reader is reading. The genre is found out. The genre of this book is same as the others. It is adventurous and mysterious.

Blog #7 Another beginning

This week, I started to read a book named "Artemis Fowl: The Cube". Because I have read book number two and one of the series, I'm going to finish the third. It seems to be a very interesting and exciting book, as I consider now that my favorite genre is mysterious adventure. I personally LOOOOVE adventure. My second dream aside from being a doctor is actually traveling around the world, facing international cultures all around the continents and the seas.

Basically, I believe that the genre will definitely be identical with the other series. However, the title, "The Cube" sounds uncommon. It would definitely not be like the movie, "The Cube" because of the genre. According to the first few pages of the book, the Cube is actually like a computer, but advanced incredibly.

Blog #6 Finished, Tired

Book: 1984

Reading Amount: whole book

I really enjoyed reading this book. I realized the theme was actually supposed to be "unfair judgement", but I can also conclude that it can also be "love that cannot come true" because of the love that is mentioned in parts of the book. From unfair judgement, love did not come true.

The biggest part of the book that really created an impact was the setting of the story. Compared to other books, this is a really unique setting. From the setting of "1984 communist times", this book was able to create things that were out of the ordinary like the "telescreens". I liked the setting and all, because it reminded me of suffering.

Book: 1984
Author: George Orwell
Amount: Chapters 3-10
The basic storyline so far consists of a brainwashed man named Winston as one of the citizens of the dictator country ruled by this so called figure named "Big Brother". After another brainwashing day passes, Winston starts to experience love toward a woman he sees walking across the streets. However, according to the rules of dictator ship, love is not allowed. Only the worshipping of "Big Brother" is permitted. There are security cameras called "tele--".
I think the theme of this book is actually "impossible love". Winston and the woman can not love each other for official reasons, its against the rules. I'm starting to enjoy this book because it keeps the reader drawn into the book. I realize this conflict of dictatorship is still happening in the present communist nature. I wish that countries like North Korea would soon unite and not become like the setting of "1984".

Blog #4 A New Beginning

Due to technical reading difficulties I decided to choose a different book to read. Its called, "1984" written by George Orwell. This book starts out with a introduction of Winston, a normal man character present in the current society of 1984. This society is mainly constructed from a half third point omnicent point of view. The author includes only obvious, concrete desicions made by one or more characters. The reason that it's only "half", however, is because the author forbids showing what the high authorities or what "Big Brother"(Dictator) has in mind.

As I read this book, I really strive to find the true theme and moral to this story. I realize by the stylistic format that this story isn't any other normal book. I have to use symbolism to be knowledgable on understanding different parts of what "dictatorship" was. So far, this book really defined how North Korea is like in the present.

Blog #3 Around the World in 80 days

Because of the SEW week, I plan to finish reading the book in the next two weeks or so. This week I read all of the short stories and poems defining the meaning of "pride" or even relating to it. One short story particularily caught my eye. It was about a girl with a imaginary friend who always used her own property. She knows that she is more superior than her friend because she knows that her friend is "nothing". However, one day she looks at the mirror and realizes that it was actually herself.
"'Pride isn't just thinking you hate everything and that you are better than anyone else.' She would tell me, 'It can be judging yourself too harshly' I never believed her when she talked about these pride issues." The rest of story most definitely defines this quote, therefore making this quote the actual theme of the story. I chose this story as my main focus because of one similar experience I had in my young days where I once reflected amonst the mirror. This story gifted me with both tragedies and enlightenment.

The book so far is fairly well-organized, with Jules Verne actually calcuting the days where Fogg, the protagonist, travels from country to country. Fogg is presented as a positive character that mostly never gives up. He leaves London to accomplish his mission, after accepting his wager for 20000 currency from his fellow club memebers.
When I read this part of the book, I realized that Fogg was a person of great character. Jules Verne is really a man of great imagination. 80 days around the world it self is a great idea to be thought of. Because there were no airplanes existing at that time, people then had to think of traveling by rail and boats. I think traveling this far is just fairly impossible and I would just be too lazy to move out of Korea. I wouldn't be exciting at all because of boat fever.

Blog #1 Jules Verne

Jules Verne is a man of science fiction. He writes about air, earth, flying and many other types of ideas. I assume that he recieve most of his ideas from the internet of by actually traveling himself to different cultures. Jules has a variety of minds, every point large and imaginative. He lives in a fourth dimensional world, and most of his famous books are in films in the present. Jules wrote many poems, essays, short films, and plays. His writing style is like one of random thoughts.
